Kaleidoscope Girls Chorus
Service, Singing and Sisterhood

PHILOSOPHY
The Kaleidoscope Girls Chorus (KGC) was formed to provide a place for girls to develop their musical creativity in a setting that positively acknowledges where they are developmentally. It supports quality relationships with other girls, giving all of them an opportunity to share their musical gifts in service to the community.Turn a kaleidoscope in the light, and you will find a beauty that is ever evolving, even surprising. Though the shapes can be symmetrical, they change with each turn. In many ways it mirrors the junior high period of girls’ adolescence. Like a kaleidoscope, these girls’ lives are turned and shaped by emotions and culture, by parents and friends, as they begin to build their individual identities. KGC recognizes how important this process is, and supports the girls as they mature.

MUSIC REPERTOIRE
Girls will develop a strong foundation in harmony by singing rounds, canons, catches, part songs and other fun vocal activities. Attention will be given to sight-singing, aural awareness, music history and music theory as well as performance skills.  Pieces will include a variety of ethnic music in different genres. When possible, the chorus will use the various talents of its members, musical and otherwise, to enhance the KGC experience.  While the rehearsals will provide quality choral instruction, there will also be time for fun and fostering friendships.
